Myths or Truths About Botulinum Toxin

Botox dura quanto tempo?

Did you know that skin ageing starts from the age of 25 and can have aesthetic consequences that can have a negative impact on self-esteem?

Many people experience psychological and, consequently, social problems associated with a sense of insecurity because of the appearance of their ageing skin.

The area that causes the most discomfort is usually the face, which is the most visible. There are basically 2 components of ageing.

Intrinsic component

The intrinsic or chronological component is natural and linked to genetics. Regardless of our actions, the skin, like other tissues, will age. Over the years there will be a decrease in the production of collagen and elastin, which give the skin its firmness and tone.

As a result, the skin becomes thinner and flabbier. Associated with the contraction of the facial muscles is the appearance of expression lines and wrinkles, which tend to become deeper and deeper.

Extrinsic component

The extrinsic component is related to the action of multiple environmental factors. The best known of these is photoageing, which is caused by chronic exposure to UV radiation. Other factors are:
In these cases there is an increase in the oxidative process with the breakdown of collagen fibers.

  • Smoking
  • Eating, with a high level of sugar consumption and alcohol intake
  • Stress, among others.

The skin loses its support, becomes rougher, thicker, has spots and wrinkles.

According to the Brazilian Society of Dermatology, we receive 80% of all solar radiation in our lifetime up to the age of 18 and the consequences of this will be noticed years later.

Within the causes mentioned, it is extremely important that environmental factors are controlled through the use of sunscreen and a healthy lifestyle.
