Hello! In today’s article, we’re going to take a closer look at an important topic: hyperhidrosis treatment with Botox. This is the same substance—the well-known Botox—used in facial aesthetics, but here it serves a different purpose.

Studies show that Botox treatment for hyperhidrosis can reduce excessive sweating by up to 80–90% in treated areas, with noticeable improvement occurring within 3 to 7 days after the procedure. Clinical data also indicate that the results typically last 4 to 6 months, significantly improving patients’ quality of life by decreasing discomfort, skin irritation, and social embarrassment associated with excessive sweating.
How does botulinum toxin work in the treatment of hyperhidrosis?
Botulinum toxin is applied to a specific layer of the skin in the underarm area to prevent excessive sweat secretion, which is the cause of hyperhidrosis. It works by blocking the activity of the sweat glands, preventing sweat from being released onto the skin.
How much botulinum toxin is used for this treatment?
To treat axillary hyperhidrosis, we generally use 100 to 200 units of botulinum toxin. This corresponds to approximately twice the amount used in facial aesthetic procedures—about one to two vials of the medication.
Is hyperhidrosis treatment with Botox painful, and how long does it take?

The application is virtually painless, although some mild discomfort may occur, which is completely tolerable. The procedure takes, on average, about 30 minutes to perform.
How long do the results of hyperhidrosis treatment with Botox last?
Treatment with botulinum toxin for hyperhidrosis remains effective for a long period. In general, results last 8 to 15 months, which is approximately one year of benefit.
Is there any advantage of hyperhidrosis treatment with Botox compared to surgery?
Yes—and this is a very important point. A major advantage of botulinum toxin over surgical techniques for correcting hyperhidrosis is that it does not cause compensatory rebound sweating, which is when excessive sweating begins to occur in other areas of the body. This makes the procedure a very safe and advantageous option.
