And that’s what makes this procedure so popular today: the fact that it’s a no-cut solution. You can, for example, have a protruding chin, plump lips, eliminate forehead wrinkles, slim the nose, etc.

In other words, you can treat various areas of the face and all without surgery.

For some time now, it has been gaining a lot of repercussions. Many famous people have even invested in this procedure to make their faces even more beautiful.

The fact is that there are certain proportions that can make your face more harmonious, more balanced, and facial harmonization is about identifying this and making the necessary corrections and adjustments.

In short, there is a way to accentuate the beauty of the face and attenuate details that bother the patient.

What is Facial Harmonization?

Dr. Szerman explains it all!

How does it work?

Basically, it’s one of the facial harmonization procedures used to improve the shape of your face and make it more harmonious. All in the most natural way possible.

Many people think that the facial harmonization procedure consists only of filling with botulinum toxin, but this is not the case.

This toxin is one of the main products used in harmonization, but there are still other alternatives that can be applied and that offer results just as excellent.

There is, for example, the use of hyaluronic acid, CO2 laser, biostimulators, etc. The fact is that aesthetic medicine is advancing with the help of technology and thus offers new solutions with excellent results.

But first, a preliminary assessment is needed to identify the proportions of the face. The specialist will then indicate which areas are out of harmony and what needs to be done to bring the face back into balance.

This analysis of the face will help the specialist to carry out the procedure respecting angles and distances, so as to achieve a satisfactory end result. In other words, harmonization will be carried out without exaggeration and only respecting the patient’s natural beauty.

There are also those who use other techniques such as peeling, laser, among others, in order to enhance the results in improving the appearance of the face. This gives a more natural and long-lasting effect.

It all depends on what the patient wants and needs. And here it is up to the specialist to decide what is needed for each case and to analyze what is expected by the patient.Facial harmonization is an aesthetic procedure that aims to improve the appearance of the patient’s face, aligning the anatomy and providing a more harmonious contour for the face without the need for surgery.

Basically, facial harmonization is done following the MD CODES technique, which aims to smooth out wrinkles, improve the support of the facial skin and other purposes.

To carry out facial harmonization, we at Clínica de Pele in the city of Rio de Janeiro use hyaluronic acid fillers, a natural solution found in our own bodies and widely used on the market because it gives long-lasting results.

But before it is applied, we carry out a thorough assessment of the face in order to identify the proportions of the patient’s face and thus carry out the procedure without affecting the natural features of their face, with the aim of offering a satisfactory end result.

This technique consists of filling and harmonizing the face in a less invasive way and is based on hyaluronic acid.

Facial harmonization is promoted here while respecting the shape of the face and its characteristics.
A prior consultation is then held with a dermatologist in order to identify what the patient wants and needs, as well as reinforcing the proper care that should be taken before, during and after the procedure.

As this is a non-surgical procedure, it is usually done in the clinic itself.

One thing that is important to mention here is that this is a personalized procedure. Thus, it is done according to the patient’s needs, and in each situation different complementary techniques are used in order to achieve the desired end result.

But this procedure also helps to moisturize your skin and give your face the ideal contour.

What is it for?

We’ve briefly touched on some of the applications of facial harmonization (also known as orofacial harmonization), and now we’re going to look at other situations in which it offers benefits to make your face look more balanced and beautiful.

This procedure can also be used to

  • Reduce dark circles under the eyes;
  • Make changes to the nose;
  • Reduce or enlarge the forehead;
  • Reduce wrinkles and expression marks;
  • Reduce jowls (fat accumulated in the area below the chin);
  • Increase or reduce cheekbones;
  • Correcting the angle between the eyes and the eyelashes;
  • Correct the depression that forms due to a very prominent malar or mandible (Malar Biomodeling);
  • Offers increased volume in the face, which helps with rejuvenation;
  • Defining the jaw, among others.

As time goes by, facial skin loses volume and, consequently, its youthfulness. But malar fillers are an alternative for delaying the effects of ageing.

The ageing process is inevitable and natural, that’s a fact. The cheek area becomes droopier, looks tired, there is an accentuation of the nasolabial fold, etc.

In short, facial fat is lost and the results are sagging and an unsightly reshaped face. But there is a way to restore the volume that has been lost in the cheekbone area.

Malar fillers, which use a substance naturally found in the body, can combat the action of time and gravity on your skin.

This procedure can be carried out by men and women who want to restore lost volume in the cheekbone.

What is Hyaluronic Acid?

When we talk about acid, a lot of people are already frightened, believing it to be something extremely dangerous. But no, hyaluronic acid is a natural element found in practically all living beings, including humans.

Hyaluronic acid, used in facial harmonization, has the molecular structure of a sugar and is important for our bodies because its main function is to fix water in the skin, moisturizing and lubricating parts of the body (such as the joints). In the dermatological field, hyaluronic acid is widely used for filling and facial harmonization procedures.

What is the malar region?

The malar region is the upper part of the cheekbone. With advancing age, it begins to lose fat due to the wear and tear that occurs in this area and, as a result, there is bone remodeling and the fat in the face is repositioned.

As a result, the face loses volume and has that “melted candle” appearance. This loss of volume usually begins when the person is around 35 years old.

Returning to the loss of facial fat, there is also sagging skin as a result. It is therefore common for patients to notice that their cheeks are drooping and that there is an increase in the nasolabial fold due to the lack of sufficient support in this area.

Many patients often report that they feel like their face is melting, as this is the effect that the loss of mass in this region has. Fortunately, with advances in technology, there are treatments that are not very invasive and offer excellent results, such as fillers.

What is malar filling?

Malar fillers are one of the facial harmonization procedures usually performed when the patient is around 35 years old. As we’ve explained, this is the age at which the first signs of facial fat loss appear.

But before you do anything, you need to consult a specialist so that they can assess your case. Only after this assessment can the right time and treatment be indicated. Each case is different.

It’s also important to note that the malar region is the first to suffer from the effects of age. As we’ve explained here, there is bone resorption and also a decline in facial tissues. All this influences your face to look tired.

For this procedure, the specialist uses hyaluronic acid which, as we briefly mentioned, is a substance that is produced by the human body and also by animals. It is therefore well tolerated by the body and has a high chance of not being rejected.

This substance is essential for providing elasticity and softness to your skin.

What does hyaluronic acid do?

It works by restoring mass to the cheeks, returning them to their former position. But this treatment also has the added benefit of improving skin hydration and making it look more radiant. It is a treatment with excellent results.

Who is the malar procedure recommended for?

In short, malar fillers are an aesthetic treatment indicated for people who suffer from facial volume loss problems that result in thinner, elongated faces, etc.

But fillers are also indicated for those seeking facial harmonization. Harmonization has been one of the most sought-after aesthetic procedures in recent times.

How much does dermal filler cost?

Basically, malar fillers are a procedure whose cost depends on the region, as well as on the dermatologist’s clinical and aesthetic assessment, since it is this professional who will quantify the number of ampoules to be used in each patient.

Is facial harmonization with MDCODES painful?

One of the main doubts about facial harmonization is whether the procedure is painful.

Generally, patients tolerate the treatment very well, but if this is the case, a local anesthetic ointment can be applied before the procedure. This makes the patient more comfortable. We work in this way here at the clinic.

How long facial harmonization lasts

Right after the procedure, the effect is seen on the same day. It lasts an average of two years.
But the procedure carried out at the Skin Clinic is long-lasting and can even last more than three or four years.

For the procedure to have a longer-lasting effect, it will depend on the technique and degree of cross-linking used. This is because the application of hyaluronic acid to deep layers of the face will stimulate the body’s production of the same substance, which will help to extend its effect.

Recovery after MD CODES

As I said, this is a non-surgical procedure, so recovery is usually quite quick.

And because we use the MD Codes technique, the procedure doesn’t usually have any side effects when carried out by an experienced medical professional.

However, due to the use of needles, there may be swelling in the treated area, but this won’t interfere with your day-to-day life and you won’t have to stop your activities.

Some patients may also experience a little redness in the area, but this doesn’t interfere either and the skin soon recovers.

We recommend that patients avoid excessive exposure to the sun, use sunscreen, avoid massaging the face, etc. Otherwise the effect of the product will be compromised. But all this and more is instructed to the patient in the office after the procedure.

Facial harmonization care

We always make a point of keeping patients properly informed about the procedure and the process itself. And it is extremely important that any specialist who will be carrying out this procedure does the same.

It is recommended to avoid any invasive procedures on the skin the day before the harmonization is performed. Pregnant women should not undergo this procedure.

It is therefore very important to undergo an assessment with a medical specialist before starting a procedure of this kind.

Collagen biostimulators

Among the main facial harmonization procedures we can also highlight the use of collagen biostimulators.

What are they?

Collagen biostimulators are substances that are injected into the skin with the aim of stimulating collagen production. These substances have identical components to what we naturally have in our skin. That’s why we call them biocompatible.

In addition, biostimulators are also easily absorbed by the body. Therefore, their effects are not harmful to health.

How facial harmonization is performed

Basically, biostimulants are injected through cannulas or micro-needles into certain layers of the skin. Their action activates the fibroblasts, which are the cells responsible for producing collagen, promoting greater support for the skin.

Collagen biostimulators can be applied to the face or other parts of the body, except the lips and eyes. Among the main collagen biostimulators used today are radiesse and sculptra.

What is Radiesse?

Basically, Radiesse is one of the facial harmonization procedures made up of calcium hydroxyapatite microspheres. This substance, when applied to the subcutaneous region of the skin, conditions the production of collagen. As a result, it promotes greater skin elasticity and smoothness, guaranteeing a rejuvenating effect.

What is Sculptra?

Sculptra is another biostimulator made up of poly-L-lactic acid. When injected, this substance restructures the skin and underlying tissues. In this way, it prevents sagging and loss of elasticity. In addition, Sculptra also helps to correct thickness, as well as reshaping body and facial contours.

What is the difference between Radiesse and Sculptra?

Overall, there are a few points that differentiate these two facial harmonization procedures. One of them is the composition.

Sculptra is composed of poly-L-lactic acid, which generates a natural inflammatory response to produce collagen. Meanwhile, Radiesse is made up of calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres, which do not cause an inflammatory response.

In addition, the injection of Radiesse can generate greater discomfort for the patient compared to Sculptra. The speed with which results appear is another point that differentiates these two biostimulators.

Sculptra requires a few weeks to a month for the final result to be achieved. Meanwhile, Radiesse provides results in less time. But it’s worth remembering that both biostimulators don’t have an immediate effect.
